Materials
For us, clothing starts with the fabric.
Before the shape. Before the colour. Before the little details.
Because you can see a beautiful garment in a photograph, but you can’t see how it feels.
And we think that matters.
There is something very personal about fabric. It is one of the few things we choose to keep directly against our skin for hours at a time.
You notice it when you wake up.
You notice it when you move.
You notice it when you’re too warm, when you’re sitting for a long time, when you’re travelling, when the day gets busy.
The right fabric can almost disappear.
You stop thinking about it.
That feeling is something we look for when choosing materials for EEVE.
We are drawn to fabrics that feel soft and natural against the skin, that allow movement and feel good throughout the day. But softness alone isn’t enough.
We also think about how a fabric behaves over time. How it washes. How it holds its shape. How it feels after being worn again and again.
And we want to understand where it comes from.
There is no single perfect material.
Every fibre has its own qualities, its own process and its own story. Some are natural. Some are regenerated from plant-based sources. Some combine different fibres to achieve a particular feel or function.
We don’t think the answer is to use one material for everything.
It is about choosing carefully. With intention.
Sometimes that means a natural fibre. Sometimes it means an innovative cellulose-based fibre. Sometimes it means adding a little stretch because it makes a garment much more comfortable to live in.
We are still learning, too.
The more we learn about textiles, the more we realise how much there is to know.
That is something we actually like.
We don’t want to pretend that every decision is simple or that there is always one perfect answer.
We just want to make considered ones.
Because when you put on something that feels right, you know it almost immediately.
No explanation needed.
